Right Click on the Sims2 link --> Click on "Start as...". There you can start the game with adminstrator rights. The rights are only on the Sims2-game. the rest is normal!

This still involves running the game with full Administrative rights. If I thought that were a viable solution, I wouldn't be bitching here.

No game needs Administrative access to run. Thief III imposed such a requirement by deleting all of its system files when a non-Admin ran the game, but it was easily circumvented by disabling write access to those files, after which the game would run without any problems whatsoever, showing that the "Administrator access required" imposition was nothing but programmer malice.

The Sims 2 seems to do a check on WinXP/2k systems and returns an "Unspecificed Error" when a non-Admin user tries to run it. This can be circumvented by running the executable with Windows 98/ME compatability. Unfortuntely, SafeDisc is too badly coded to work without Admin rights, so I need an executable without SafeDisc in it at all to be able to play the game properly.
