HD Loader question

Hi

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if its possible to backup the hd loader disk, i have the original but as you now cant get a new 1 i want to back mine up to stop if from getting damaged, ive tried to use nero, that wont even see the disc and record now max which gets to about 8mb reading of it then error's, has anyone sucessfully backed up there disc or know how to do it ?
