how do i rip dc games?, do i need some kind of link cable?

Hey, i need help, i am kind of a newbie in the dc backup world, i want help, do i need any other hardware or cables other than my cd writter and my normal pc cd drive? i have got a dc so thats nota a problem but the ripping files i have dl say i need to connect to something, i take it that its my dc i need to "connect to" if so what type of cable do i need?
