OK. I ran Adware 6.0 and it did not find the executable "cdac11ba.exe" anywhere. Also, a search of files using Windows tools did not turn it up.
I finally located the file in the following directory: WINDOWS > SYSTEM32 > DRIVERS > CDAC11BA Interestingly, I also found another file in the DRIVERS folder; CDAC15BA. Not sure what this, but it is probably another extension of the Macrovision system. My utility, TPower, allowed me to detect the executable running in the background and provided a tool to "kill" the program, but when I rebooted the executable was right back again . . . . running in the background. I relabeled the file, CDAC11BA, as "JUNK" and restarted Windows. The executable is no longer running. I don't know if I may have done anything to damage my system by doing this, but I will report back if the computer does anything strange. Would really love to hear from anyone who has detailed knowledge of this program. Thanks ! ! ! Last edited by lugesm; 30-07-2004 at 15:38. |
