Hmm... interesting stuff happening in nfl blitz 2000 and cdda track
I tried ripiing NFL blitz 2k just for fun and it's proven to be a challenge(yea, you can buy it for 5 bucks used). Following the normal steps to do a cdda katana selfboot, the audio track (anouncer calls) is behind exactly 2 secs (300 sectors), so you get the anouncer saying "28,28" when he's supposed to say "this game is on it's way". cutting down the first 2 secs of the audio track fixes the anouncer stuff, but some times it'll try to play the audio before those 2 secs even if the track wasn't cut, since those 300 sectors do not exist (you can't go -300)it causes the game to stop the anouncer, then at the end of the quarter, the game waits for the anouncer, since the anouncer stopped, it crashes the game.
so, let's see: audio track starts at sector 150 on the regular cd, but for some reason, blitz thinks it starts 300 sectors before that. hmm, how could this be fixed? I wonder what exactly does cdda.exe do to the bin files? Also, Xena has a new tutorial of what all the hacking tools really do, I understand what all do except fo dahack, it almost looks like dahack is the same as hack3. ****UDPATE**** Ok, tested more, when you put in 0 (for use with boot disk) both dahack and hack3 put in same result, but anything other than that and the values change. very interesting stuff. ok, now I know what's the diffrence between dahack and hack3. It was in Xena's tutorial, but it was a little hard to understand. Hack3 will rewrite refrences to 45150 sectors to "2nd msinfo #" +150 and 45166 sectors to "2nd msinfo #" +150 +16 dahack will rewrite refrences to 45150 sectors to 150 and 45166 sectors to "2nd msinfo #" +150 +16 Now to see how to make blitz see the audio data correctly. |
