GTA Vice City Protection

I have read on GameCopyWorld that GTA Vice City has got the protection CD-Checks (Triggers). What is meant by that? There are permanent CD-Checks in the game and if you take the CD out of the drive while playin it instantly asks you to re-insert it. Is this what is meant with triggers?

Any by the way the main protection of the game are not the CD-Checks (thei would also accept every Copy made with Nero) it is SecuRom *new* V2 (that one with checks the physical structure of the CD).
