Baseballs Weird Injuries:


Ryan Klesko missed a couple of games because he pulled a muscle picking up his lunch tray.

David Cone missed a start after being bitten on the finger by his mother's Jack Russell terrier.

Moises Alou tore a ligament in his knee falling off a treadmill.

Henry Cotto punctured his eardrum when Ken Griffey Sr. bumped him while he was cleaning his ear with a Q-Tip.

Richard Allen (had to put richard because the D word gets the *'s) put his hand through an car headlight when pushing a stalled car.

Roberto Clemente initiated a whole string of back problems during one off-season. Clemente was asleep in a hammock on his porch, rolled out, fell on his back and rolled down several yards of a steep slope next to the porch.

Mark Smith hurt his hand by sticking it into an air conditioner to see why it wasn't working.

Steve Sparks dislocated his shoulder trying to tear a phone book in half.

Tom Glavine broke a rib in 1992 from throwing up bad airline food.

Bret Barberie missed a game after accidentally rubbing chili juice in his eye.

Ken Griffey Jr. missed a game because of a pinched testicle he suffered when his protective cup slipped.

The day before Allen Watson was due to come off the DL (strained forearm), he gashed his wrist while opening a beer bottle, requiring eight stitches and two more weeks on the DL.

Rickey Henderson missed some games with frostbite... in August.

Bobby Brown missed a game after straining his eyelid by sleeping on it wrong.

Larry Herndon once had to miss a game because of a cut he got on his throwing hand while eating a lobster.

This didn't cause any missed time, but Mike Simms once had a live moth removed from his ear as he sat in the dugout during a game. This was televised... in slo-mo.

Wade Boggs missed several games due to a sprain he suffered while pulling on his cowboy boots. (At least that's the official explanation. Some people believe that Margo Adams played some sort of role in the injury.)

Kevin Mitchell reportedly sustained an injury while eating a cupcake.

Dennis Martinez dislocated his shoulder throwing his luggage onto the team bus.

Terry Harper, while on deck, separated his shoulder waving a baserunner home on a wild pitch.

When Roger Craig was managing the Giants, he got a cut on his hand via a bra hook.

Perhaps the All-Timer: Glenallen Hill once went on the DL with cuts suffered when he smashed a glass table with his feet while dreaming that he was being attacked by spiders.
