dreamcast not working

ok so when i tun my dreamcast on it starts ok, it says dreamcast and the swirl bit goes round but then it will just go blank I have tried I with backups original audio and no CDs but the same thing happen dose any one know what is wrong with it, or has this happened to any one else.
