the best way of protecting PC CD?

I downloaded ccd lock and cd protector and tried them on 2 different images i,d made.Unfortunately i didnt back the images up.After using ccd lock the image were ****ed and couldnt be burnt anymore same with cd protector .So if you use any of them make a backup image
