Home LAN games

I'm curious, if this is possible. Let's say i have 3-4 PS2s with network adapters. Is it possible to hook them together and let's say play games like THUG, SOCOM, etc, just like being online?

If yes, does it require a PC, or they can be connected all by themselves?
