cd-r or dvd?????

alright im really new to all of this, and i was wondering what would be the best way for backing up my ps2 games? is it worth the time and money to try rip down a dvd based game? or would it be better to just spend the $$ and save the headache? and if the dvd rip way would be alright, how would i do that? ive looked around and i have CDRWin and CloneCD and Alcohol 120%. but i dont really know how to use them, like i said im really new at all the backing up stuff, i have a swap disk for my ps2 and the flip top lid, so that should be fine for the playing of the backups right? please help me out, thanx
