Call of Duty not working.

I just bought call of duty installed the game and went to run it and it kept asking me to insert the correct cd even though i had it in there i tried cd 1 and cd 2 then put both in seprate drives at the same time. Anyhow i finally downloaded the no cd patch by deviance hoping that would work and now it doesn't ask me to insert the cd just says can't find default.cfg, anyone know how to fix this?

P.S. i have replaced the exe with the one off the cd though so now it just asks for the cd again.
