Can anyone help me out?

I just recently purchased a playstation2 and was told that there is a way to copy games. Can anyone tell me exactly what to do? I have a HP 9500 series cd burner on my computer at home. and I don't know how to copy games on it. One more thing, is a mod chip necessary for burning the game or playing it back on the playstation2.
