version of ps2?

ok so im prollie pretty dumb for this one but how exactely do you check the version of your ps2...on the boot screen (where u choose memory card/game) i press triangle for version and a screen comes up telling me this

browser 1.20
cd player 1.20
Playstation driver 1.10
DVD player 2.10U

so what exactely is the version of the ps2 (when people refer to v4, v5, v7 etc..) Is it the ps2 driver or what? Lol well any help would be appreciated... and for the version i have is it any good?
BTW how exactely do you get the newest version of a ps2? If i go to the px and buy one from there what version do you think i will be gettin (px is a store on an army base for those who arent familiar ) I think it was tyler durden that said that v7's are only sold online? is that true?
