A blacklist means that the protection checks for installed programs that it doesn't like, and if found will not launch the game. This applies to
original games too! not just backps as tippex mentioned.
It's a cat and mouse game of protection getting updated with latest blacklists, and programs getting changed slightly to avoid detection. It's pointless for the copy protection companies because they are shooting themselves in the foot by not allowing users to run their legit original games due to a program installed on the same computer which is none of their business. The irony is that a crack will fix the problem as BM mentioned - so in some cases a crack is needed to play an original cd.
