problems burning backups to cd

I have a hp, I am using clone cd and I can not copy any of the backups I bought to cd. I have tried disc to image and then copy and also disc to disc. I am not sure if my problem is with my writer, the cd clone or just the way I have the settings. I have selfboot backups and backups that need the boot disc I have not made 1 backup cd. Any help would be great. The writer I have is a mitsumi 4084te.
