Messiah 2 1.31 pro issues

Hi all ive managed to get my hands on a couple of these chips that i beleive work in the pal 5000's series.
The first problem ive got is when i downloaded the diagrams in ppf format they will not open in acrobat reader , so please could somebody point me to the diagrams as this would be much appre.
Also ive heard that the chips work ok but a hard reset is needed for dvds is this dvd games or films also please could somebody explain what is meant by hard reset.
Thanks again in advance as im only home a few days and i really need to get these two consoles chipped as im not sure if ill be back home b4 christmas and they are both prezzies
