Replacing files

I have downloaded a file and it says to replace the original one with the downloaded one. My question is how do I know which one to take out. It states a Lithtech.exe will that be the name of the file (I can't see one) or a general term. Thanks heaps to Godan LiHar and anyone else that may reply.
