Your FTP speed

Hi, i am new to this forum please don't flame me if i ask wrong question.

i been use FTP for awhile now and most of my averge speed is at
5,500K to 7,500K but today its gone up to 11,000K not sure how its work but its wonderful ^_^

anyway i just wondering what's your FTP speed and is there anyway to increase its???

i do work-study in my school and i saw my supervisor use his FTP at over 80,000k per sec (just amazing speed)
yup he using 10/100 LAN card not 10/100/1000, he using some kind of ghost program to format and send data over other computer...
since alot of you guys smart here, is there anyway i can get that's speed??? i really wanna its
