Chessmaster 9000

I have a registered original disk for Chessmaster 9000 and since I go to my summer home for the season I made a copy of the program to be used by me while I was away. I installed the complete program on my laptop from the original disks not realizing that it was protected.

When I try to use the program it calls for the original disk which I don'st have with me. The copy which I have does not work.

What can I do to get it to activate? I need specific instructions, since I downloaded some patch files but don't know what to do with them.
