Hi all, even if this thread is old, I reply here, because I have the same problem of skipping movies, but I do not agree about the background running applications.
Fact is that no matter what I do, some games simply refuse to play movies correctly, even on TDK at 1x or 2x. I have tried Dragon's Lair 3D and LotR - Two Towers, and they all skip frames in movies. Instead, using same media/apps/config/os, games like Panzer Dragoon Orta, Moto GP 2 or others have no problem at all with movies. My opinion is that XBOX DVD unit (mine is Thomson) is unreliable and that's all. Tomorrow I'll go find a Samsung 616T and try to replace it. I bet an ale that no movie will skip anymore. WeeZee
