OK. I have now backed up about 20 DVD movies with DVD X Copy, a Sony DRU-500Ax burner, and the following type DVD-R discs.

Sony
Maxell
Ritek
Samsung BeALL

My new Sony DVD player plays all of them flawlessly, but my older Panasonic DVD will only play the Sony and Maxell discs. It always fails on the Ritek and Samsung DVD-R media.

While I cannot conclude that the Samsung and Ritek are inferior (I MAKE NO SUCH CLAIM.) it is clear that there is some subtle difference in these discs.

This data is offered, without conclusion, as a caution for those who might be using older DVD players.
