writing software blues!

I am trying to halp my mate who is new to computing. He has a iomega cd-rw drive but I cant find software that is compatible. There is no problem writing music cds but we are trying to do a copy of a vcd. We have tried nero but get a timeout error every time. I looked on the nero website but it seems that the iomega is not supported. Can anyone tell me of software which will do a copy of a vcd useing the iomega drive. I am well stuck!
