Newbie to x-box modding-?'s pleez

Just got a version 1 xbox. I have modded many ps1& ps2.
Question is, which modchips are the easiest to install, provide the most reliability and have the best features?
I saw this Xectuer or whatever, only 9 wires to solder and pretty easy points. Does anyone have a link to complete install instructions for it? Definitely don't want to have to solder onto resistors, etc like ps2. too shaky.

Also is there evidence of it shortening the life of your box? I know alot of the earlier ps2 mods did(mine included)
