Do Not Order From Modchip.com!!!
The following is my opinion----and nothing more. I am not a mean person, but when it comes to principals, I get all worked up
![]() In December of 2002, I ordered a no solder modchip from modchip.com. I was immediatly billed for the 79 dollars of this purchase. They gave me a choice of action replay or gameshark, from what I read gameshark seemed to be the better of the two. I also read it takes a while for these things to arrive because of customs. So I waited, and waited, and waited some more. A couple months after I ordered, I emailed them to get a tracking number, or something of that sort. Their reply (after waiting several days) was that it must have gotten lost in the mail. They said they were sorry and told me to confirm my shipping address and they would send it again. I was dissapointed to hear this, but glad they were somewhat promt with the situation. Only a couple weeks later, the mod chip arrived. However, there was no gameshark, instead it was action replay. I was rather mad at this point. I proceeded to email them about this. They said Gameshark2 was no longer being produced, so they sent action replay instead. At the end of this email, and every other one of theirs, it said please respond if you have any questions or comments---this phrase soon got on my nerves. I then emailed them again and explained how it is not fair that they switch my order without my consent, and also illegal. I also stated that they never provided me with documented proof of my original order being shipped----so I requested such. It was also requested by myself, that I be compensated for this matter in some way, pretty much asking for credit towards their website (I figured both me, and this company would benefit from this). It was pretty clear at this point I had gone through much annoyance with them (it may not seem this way from reading my view, but I was very frustrated). A few days later, I get their response. They said they have attached a return form and started spitting out all this nosense about customs proceedors. I was seriously furious at this point. I ordered the chip in December, waited and waited, they sent me the wrong game, and now their way of compensating me is to tell me to return it?? My modchip was already installed and like I then told them, IF I DIDN'T WANT A MODCHIP---I WOULD NOT HAVE ORDERED ONE. Like I want to now return the thing, pay money to do so, wait forever for it to get there, then wait for them to credit my credit card, which is far from cash. In the midst of this, I went on their webpage and noticed that the price of the modchip and action replay (no longer a choice of gameshark, obviously) has dropped ten dollars. I very nicely asked them to reimburse me for this amount, not only because there is a law about a price dropping after a certain amount of time after a consumer buys a product, but also because of the great frustration they have put me through. This dispute was no longer about money, but rather a matter of principal. They had also yet to give me the documented proof that my order was originaly shipped in December--I strongly believe it was never sent out. Not only would they not provide me with documented proof of it being shipped, but never once commented on it. Their next emailed stated: "Dear customer, we are sorry, we have changed the price in March 2003, because some newer products are on the market now. You have placed your order in December 2002, at that time we have charged the correct amount for your order. We have offered you to return the item for a full refund. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. MODCHIP.COM " That thing about them "offering" for me to return the thing really pissed me off. Anyway, yes I placed it in December, but it was not shipped until March---and like I said they never provided me with proof of them orginaly shipping it. My last email to them stated that I am now going to file with my attorney general over the ten dollars they owe me---for a matter of principal. I am obviously not going to do such a thing, seeing how I would most likely get no where, and its caused me enough tension----and its only ten dollars. I feel much better about publicly complaining about their company, as I am doing VIA this thread. The main reason I deter anoyone from dealing with this company is the obvious lack of care for their customers. The true "feel" of the matter may not have been conducted through my words, but if you had the email war I had with them, you would see my point. Please respond with any negative, or positive, comments about modchip.com--or this matter inparticular. Quote:
