okay, i,ve replaced about 3 brown bottom lasers for green bottom ones and have never had any problem with getting them to run, just drop em in and off they go.
Still sounds like a height or azimuth issue to me. Have u had a scope hooked up to the PS2 to see what the eye pattern looks like. I am assuming that you've removed the anti-static precaution links soldered on the lasers that r put on them during transportation?
