Patching a Repack
Hi everybody.
Since it has become rather hard to get on orininal Rar's, there's often no way around a repack (or it's just easier to get). A problem very well known is that patches (mostly RGB) won't apply to the new image. I just got Pen Pen Tri-Icelona in CDI-Format and I kinda hope that anyone could help me finding a solution for that one. It seems as if the game has been ripped back from CD with DJ 4, since I couldn't open the image in CDmage. So far so good. But it also crashes Pal-Patcher, and the IP.Bin I extracted with Megalexxx's other tool just brings up weird symbols in IPBIN4WIN. Nevertheless I burned the CD and it looks alright when checking on it at the PC. But when I try to boot it in my DC, it goes to the Audio-CD screen. Though it wouldn't make any sense, I checked with the Boot-CD but that doesn't work neither. The burnt disc has 35 Tracks in two sessions. I don't know if the CDI is already patched, but I doubt it. There is an RGB patch for that game that I would have to apply since I only have an RGB-Cable. Of course the filesize doesn't match anymore in this repack. So I think the only possible way to fix it, would be changing the hex-values for RGB by hand. I d/l the PPF-extractor from Megagames, but there is no documentation for it. It spits out a txt-file with values: Offset Byte ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 643628048 <--- 07 643628049 <--- 89 643628050 <--- 32 643628051 <--- 88 643628052 <--- 07 643628053 <--- 89 643628054 <--- 33 643628055 <--- 88 643628056 <--- 07 643628057 <--- 89 643628144 <--- 02 643628168 <--- 22 643628169 <--- 4F 643628170 <--- 06 643628171 <--- B0 643628172 <--- 09 643628173 <--- 00 643628174 <--- 26 643628175 <--- 4F 643628176 <--- 03 643628177 <--- E4 643628178 <--- 19 643628179 <--- 40 643628180 <--- 09 643628181 <--- 24 643628184 <--- 43 643628185 <--- 60 643921122 <--- 4C 643921123 <--- 84 My question would be: Is it right that I have to find the values on the left side in the image and replace the last two digits with the ones on the right side of this list? I still have no great experience with this and not even installed hex-workshop so far. I'd just like to know if what I'm trying to do here makes any sense for the more experienced users, and if someone could give me some hint if it could work.
