Firstly, I would have to assume that you have a mod chip in your PSX, or have a Game Shark, Game Enhancer, or some such device that will allow you to play the games in the first place.
I just burned a backup of THPS 4 this evening to test this for you. It worked on ePSXe, and on the PSX with a Game Shark cartridge inserted. I used Alcohol 120% to burn the backup, reading at full speed, burning at 8x.
