Sounds like u using wrong Verbatim. They do several grades.....From a silvery purple write surface (****e for PS2 games ) to a dark purple surface ( seem to work well ). Trouble is they all cost a fortune so u can't tell unless u actually sight them or until they arrive in the mail.
If in any doubt use Ritek, Traxdata Datasafe or DVDMaster Dark purple dvd-r's. (If verbatim are silvery purple ones ditch'em cos they suck. My burner had trouble burnin them and kept crappin out in mid burn. Only media ever to do that in about 200 sucessful burns!)
