Okay well if you bought that kind of a kit then you did get a crossover cable. It looks just like a normal networking cable, but if you are able to see the wire in the plugs you will see they are not in the same place on both ends.
On a straight cable your wires will be in place like this (this may not hold true to yours but it does when I make mine): S. Green - Green, S. Blue - Blue, S. Yellow - Yellow, S. Brown - Brown. This on a straight cable, both ends of the cable will be this way. On a crossover cable the cable will be like this: S. Green - S. Yellow - Blue, S. Blue - Yellow, S. Brown - Brown. And the other end of the cable will be: S. Yellow - Yellow S. Green - Blue, S. Blue - Green, S. Brown - Brown. So now that I have lost most ppl here. DUDE you got a crossover if you bought it in a PC Networking kit.
