Ahhh.... an answer
I have contacted the tech support at ozchips.com.au and they told me that it is because the old TV does not handle the NTSC format like newer TV's do. It is just a matter of adjusting the verticle hold on the TV when playing the game (I haven't tried this yet as I am at work and have just read the email). I will let all know how it turns out.
