Well...I don't think my solution will work for you. If you read back you will see that I sent in my PS2 twice already to Sony for a lazer problem reading blue disks(it wrecks them).

I called them again on this and they told me they are sending me an airbill for this one and will send me out a new *refurbished* one as soon as they get this one.

Where did you get your R-Mod? I got mine from http://www.modchip-sbox.com/
I wonder if the chip they are selling is truely compatable with all v4 PS2's as I have read elsewhere that they are only compatable with v4 R.

Good luck with your prob. I decided that a professional Messiah 2 is the solution for me. At http://www.freedomlives.com where I am getting my install done, they advertise that they repair PS2's for a reasonable price. Perhaps an e-mail to them may be worth your time.
