Unhappy ps2 disc not spinning .. help pls

Hi,

I was just wondering if someone could tell me the where-abouts of all the components to do with powering the disc spin on the ps2 are?

I have been installing a magic 3.5 (which by the way is not worth the time ... the clip and profile of the chip is more headache than any time saved). The ps2 boots up fine ... but I can see that the disc is not spinning any more. I thought that it was something to do with the power that I have connected from the chip... buy alas I have removed the entire chip and points with no luck.

I'm thinking that the component with the big legs that the power was supposed to be connected to has been damaged. Is there some way I can check to see if this is faulty?

All ribbons and PSU and drive are ok, as I just tested them against another ps2 motherboard. So the problem is on the MB.

thanks

linc
