For starters, get rid of WinME....
The problem you're having is the hard drive can't feed the writer data fast enough to keep up with the laser. Make sure you're not running gobs of tasks in your system tray. Turn off anti-virus, turn off firewall stuff. All that crap software that may have compiled over time. It's possible the second hard drive is slower RPM ( 5400, as opposed to 7200 ) than the first one and that's why you see more failures when using that drive. Good luck. Yes, I was serious about getting rid of WinME...
