I have used Fuji and Philips Dvd+r and they both seems to work. I sometimes have to push the reset button a couple of times to get them to work though, but not too often. I have a version 5 playstation 2 and have the blue universal magic chip 3. I think that it is the model that you have also. The media, however, is a little expensive in my opinion. I have tried the TDK 2x DVD-R media and it works great (also quite expensive). No loading problems at all. I also tried the cheap o Kypermedia DVD-R from my local Office Max. Although they also worked great, they will only burn at 1x, which to me is way too long. So in my opinion the DVD-R format is the way to go if your planning to use it for PS2 back-ups since its cheaper and more compatible. But since you only have a DVD+R writer then I would recommend those 2 medias. Expensive but they definately work (assuming of course you have a version 5 or new PS2).
