I had the same problem with the apple media....
I contacted my guy who installed the messiah... precisionmods.com he said it sounds like the laser was going bad..... but what was strange was that when I load a princo dvd, it works fine...perfect..... nevertheless, your laser might be going bad, depends on how much you have been using it.....also you might be able to search for bad lasers and someone might be able to walk you through the sound it makes to give you an idea....... hope it helped...
