RICOH MP5125A-DP DVD+RW/+R....is this a good writer?

hi all im comletely new to dvd writers can anyone tell me if this writer is any good? its the only one i have seen within my budget! lol
and also cos i know absolutely nothing would it be suitable for backing up my dvd ps2 games i.e is it compatible with copy software?
