Question Dvdr backup won't work on PS2

I have a PS2 that is already chipped but i don't know what chip is in it as i bought the console second hand. I can play PS2 cdr backups,PS1 backups & originals of both kinds all without a boot disk or without pressing anything different on the PS2 no matter what i put in it all loads the same as an original PS2 game, however i am unable to get a dvdr backup to play on the PS2. Alli keep getting is please insert a PS2 format disk. Has anyone any ideas as to what chip i have and how i can get the dvdr backups to work. The backup is what my friend did for me to try on my PS2 as i don't have a dvd writer but am considering gettig one as i can't figure out the ripping process. The dvd writer used was a Pioneer Ao4 and the copy was done onto hard drive then back onto dvdr disk. My friend can not get Primo to work on their computer as it says it isn't compatable with something, not sure what! Anybody that can help me solve my problems PLEASE e mail me on [email protected]
