Help needed with Final Fantasy 8 PAL.

Hi, I'm new here, so I'm sorry if I do something wrong. Anyway, I have tried making a back up copy of this game with cdrwin 3.9 and the patches ff8univ.zip and ff8ukv2.zip, but the game still won't load. I have a Belgian copy and a modchip. Should I use a different patch or try to make a patch myself (I don't know how, though, have I mentioned I'm a stupid newbie)? I also tried to copy it with a Clonecd v3, which didn't work. Does it matter which kind of CD I use? Please help. Thank you.
