Problems making back-ups to dvd-r

Am currently having problems making backups to dvdr. Am using pioneer dvr 104 and primoDVD2. I backed up time splitters 2 at weekend. It worked okay but loaded very slowly compared to the original.

I tried backing it up again on lowest read and write speed but same problem. This was using bulk Paq Gen.3 DVDr.

Have bought some bulk paq Gen. 4 DVDr today and tried backing it up again. It does load slightly faster with these but still not as good as original.

So, looks like bad DVDR media.

Has anyone else had probs with bulk Paq dvdr's.

Can anyone recomend better dvdr's to use.

Should I be using Pioneer DVDR's for burner or Sony DVDRs for ps2??
