DVD-RW for backups, Any good?

Hey folks,

Have any of you used a DVD-RW for backups and had success? Using Pioneer 104 DVD-R R/W

I have the oppertunity to get a hold of a few and wonder if the PAL V4 PS2 likes them or not.
