Introduction on PS2 changed

Hello,
Recently I took apart my PS2 to install a new laser. After I started it up it worked fine. Than when it came up to the main screen, the 'molecules' in the background were not in orbit anymore. Just a large molecule in the center, but it is strange how it does not effect anything else. And its like its freezed, when I select an option, it starts animating again.

Does anyone know what this is? Can it effect my games/movies?
