PROBLEM WiTH EZ CD CREATOR & MY RW DRIVE

ok i have ez cd creator v4.02e, v4.0 deluxe, and the new v5.0 platinum. the first one, v4.02e came with my cdrw drive (its a Matshita 7586), then i downloaded the other versions. they all worked fine, then i uninstalled v5.0 cuz i hated the fact u had to make a complete back up of all my files i was going to put on a particular cd, cuz i would never have enough hard drive space to always do that. so i reinstalled v4.3 deluxe and when i tried to use it, it didnt recognize my cdrw drive! i dont know what the hell is going on, i tried updates and searched around at the adaptec website but its so confusing i couldnt find anything related to my problem. so i installed and uninstalled every version again over and over and none of them work. its not my cd recorder thats goofed cuz nero, disc juggler, and others still work.
can anyone help me? PLEEZ it would be MUCH appreciated
my system is windows 98, amd 350mhz 3dnow, 64mb ram,
matshita 7586 8x4x32 cdrw, creative 48x cdrom
