Need help of expert!

I am working with a philips CD burner and like every1 else trying to burn ps2 games. I have down loaded cloneCd and Clony xl, what else do i need to burn a working game. I tried to burn Madden 02 for my cousin and it didn't work, do you always need a mod chip to play burnt games and if so where can i get a good one, that's all for now, please some1 help a gamer out.
