Grand Theft Auto 3 - Crashing

I have replaced the GTA3.EXE file with a crack and the game boots up O.K, I then watch the first set of movies fine, then I get to the setup screen, Then start game. Just after the introduction sequence where the bridge explodes, my computer crashes!
Is there any drivers that I might have installed or anything that might make GTA 3 crash like this?
