poisoning recorded cd´s.....how to....

Hi. I was wondering the other day as a part of "an experiment", is there any [chemical] substance when applied to the cd surface prevent it from fuctioning???? What i mean is when you apply this substance over the cd, when you try to put it on a cd player or into a pc it just won´t recognize it, but the cd will look normal to the eye...... any help would be highly welcomed. Thanx.
