MOHAA-How to patch a cracked copy?

I'm a total noob to this and I hope someone can help.
I've got a copied version of mohaa from a m8,this does a full install and works with a crack he included on the cd to replace the original exe file.
I now want to apply the latest patches but I keep getting the message that mohaa was not found on my system.
I've tried US & UK patches,with and without the original exe from the copied cd's but no joy.
Can anyone tell me how I can get these bl**dy things to install or am I flogging a dead one?
