Helping With Dvd-r's Boot

WRITE ME HERE, PLEASE!!

can anybody help me? I've a PAL ps2 with AR2 v1.6 and MetalGearSolid2 (Original) with an internal chip neo 2.2. i wanted to know if i can play dvd-r's because i 've downloaded AR2 v1.7 and GS2 v1.93
if someone knows how do i have to do for booting dvd backups i would thank
