USAF Questions

I was trying to either make a backup of my USAF game, and also take advantage of the No CD patch, but was unable to do so. I downloaded the No CD patch and it still asked for the CD. As for the backup, I can't even get past 0%. I have an HP 9150i, and it's brand new. I am using Nero. Can anyone help me out?
