Help backing up my childrens "The Sims"

I have had a burner since they pretty much came out so I am not totally a rookie, I have had a lot of sucess with it in copying in the past. I am merely trying to make a backup copy of my childrens "The Sims" they got for Christmas. I use Adaptec Easy CD and it shows it to be a good copy but the game will not work. I have copied the CD to my HD first and still won't work. My burner is a "Actima" ARW 4420 CD-RW Drive. It is a 4x4x20. I know the games now are more sofisticated and are harder to copy, so I would appreciate any help and all details needed to accomplish this task to make a (Working) copy of The Sims.
